How We Help
When a Thai citizen plans to travel to the United Kingdom to marry their partner and build their life together there, the application needs to present both the relationship and the couple's future plans clearly. Lawyers for Expats Thailand prepares and manages UK fiancé and fiancée visa applications from the initial evidence preparation through submission and the decision.
How We Help
A UK fiancé or fiancée application is prepared around your relationship and marriage plans, not a template. Here is what happens from the first call through to the decision.
We start by understanding your relationship, your plans to marry or enter into a civil partnership in the UK, your intended living arrangements and the circumstances of both partners.
We identify and organise the relationship, financial, accommodation, English-language and other supporting evidence relevant to the application.
We prepare the application and supporting documentation, checking that the relationship history, marriage plans and supporting evidence are presented consistently.
We manage the application from submission through to the decision, assisting with the process and further information requests where appropriate. The final decision belongs to the UK immigration authority, not to Lawyers for Expats Thailand.
What We Do For Our Clients
A fiancé or fiancée application brings together the relationship, the couple's marriage plans and the supporting financial and documentary evidence. Here is the actual scope of what our team handles.
This route concerns couples who intend to marry or enter into a civil partnership in the UK and then continue their life together there. Relevant circumstances can include how the couple met, relationship history, time spent together, communication and ongoing contact, previous marriages or relationships where relevant, the intended marriage or civil partnership, and plans to live together in the UK.
Do we have to be married before applying for a UK fiancé or fiancée visa?
No. This route is specifically intended for qualifying couples who plan to marry or enter into a civil partnership in the UK. The application needs to demonstrate the relationship and the genuine intention to complete the marriage or civil partnership after arrival.
We help organise evidence showing the genuine relationship and its history. Depending on circumstances this may involve evidence of meetings and time spent together, travel evidence, communications where relevant, photographs where relevant, financial support where relevant, evidence concerning previous marriages or civil partnerships where necessary, and other evidence appropriate to the couple.
This route is distinct from an ordinary visit — the application should clearly present the couple's genuine intention to marry or enter into a civil partnership in the UK. What evidence is relevant depends on the couple's actual circumstances and arrangements, so we organise the application around the plans that genuinely exist rather than a fixed checklist.
Do we need to have the entire wedding arranged before applying?
The application needs to demonstrate a genuine intention to marry or enter into a civil partnership in the UK within the period permitted by the route. The evidence required will depend on the couple's actual plans and circumstances, so we organise the application around the arrangements that genuinely exist.
The fiancé and fiancée family route also involves financial and accommodation requirements. We help identify and organise the relevant evidence based on the circumstances being relied upon — potentially employment income, self-employment or business income, savings or other permitted resources where applicable, intended accommodation, supporting financial documentation, and the circumstances of the UK-based partner.
An applicable English-language requirement forms part of the family route unless an exemption applies. We identify the English-language and document requirements relevant to the application. Where Thai-language documents require an appropriate English translation, this is identified during preparation, and where applicable under current rules, additional documentation such as TB evidence may also form part of preparation.
Is a fiancé visa the same as a Marriage Visitor Visa?
No. A fiancé or fiancée family visa is for a qualifying couple planning to marry or enter into a civil partnership in the UK and continue their life together there, subject to the applicable family visa requirements. A Marriage Visitor Visa is for someone coming to marry or enter into a civil partnership in the UK without intending to remain or settle there afterwards.
Our work includes preparing the application, checking names and dates, checking the relationship chronology, checking consistency between the answers given and the evidence provided, organising the supporting material and preparing for submission. Applicants also go through an identity and biometric stage. We manage the case through to the decision and help respond to further-document requests where appropriate.
Who decides whether the fiancé or fiancée visa is granted?
The decision is made by the relevant UK immigration authority. Lawyers for Expats Thailand prepares and manages the application but does not control or guarantee the outcome.
