How We Help
Travelling from Thailand to Europe for a conference, cultural event, sporting event, celebration or another genuine short visit needs an application that clearly explains why you are travelling and how the visit is organised. Lawyers for Expats Thailand prepares and manages Schengen short-stay visa applications around the specific event or purpose of the trip.
How We Help
An event or short-visit application is prepared around the genuine purpose of your trip, not a template. Here is what happens from the first call through to the decision.
We start by establishing why you are travelling, the event or activity involved, where it is taking place, how long you intend to stay and the practical arrangements for the trip.
We identify and organise the invitation, event, travel, financial, accommodation and Thai supporting evidence relevant to the proposed visit.
We prepare the application so the event, itinerary, accommodation, funding and supporting documentation are presented consistently.
We manage the application from submission through to the decision, assisting with the process and additional-document requests where appropriate. The competent Schengen authority makes the final decision, not Lawyers for Expats Thailand.
What We Do For Our Clients
An event application brings together the invitation, the applicant's role and a coherent set of travel arrangements. Here is the actual scope of what our team handles.
This service covers genuine short stays where the purpose does not fit neatly into an ordinary holiday, family visit or business-meeting application. Examples may include conferences, seminars, cultural events, sporting events, educational events, ceremonies or celebrations, exhibitions, and other genuine short-term activities. Not every event or activity is automatically permitted, so we confirm what fits the proposed visit.
What kinds of events can a Schengen short-stay visa cover?
Short-stay visas can cover a range of genuine temporary visit purposes, including conferences, seminars, cultural or sporting events and other permitted activities. The correct evidence depends on the specific event, the traveller's role and the Schengen state handling the application.
The event itself may need to be evidenced clearly. Depending on the circumstances this may involve an invitation, registration, event organiser details, conference or seminar information, competition or event participation information, dates, venue, the applicant's role, and other evidence explaining why attendance is required. There is no single universal invitation format.
We establish whether the applicant is attending, participating, presenting, competing, performing, accompanying another participant, or attending in another legitimate capacity, so the application accurately reflects what the applicant will actually be doing.
Does attending an event mean I am allowed to work in Europe?
No. Attendance at an event under a short-stay visa does not automatically give permission to take up employment or carry out activities requiring separate national work authorisation. We prepare the application around the genuine short-stay activity being undertaken.
The application needs to establish who is paying for the trip, where the traveller will stay, how travel will be arranged, whether the organiser contributes to expenses, and how the applicant's own finances fit into the trip where relevant. Possible funders can include the applicant, an employer, an organisation, the event organiser, or another legitimate sponsor or supporter where applicable.
Can the event organiser pay for my trip?
An organiser may be able to provide financial, travel or accommodation support depending on the circumstances. Where support is being provided, we organise the evidence so the arrangement and the applicant's connection to the event are explained clearly.
The Thai applicant's own circumstances remain relevant. Depending on the application this may include employment, education, business, professional role, sporting or cultural affiliation, finances, family circumstances, previous travel, responsibilities in Thailand, and circumstances supporting the temporary nature of the visit.
Our work includes application preparation, event invitation and evidence, establishing the applicant's role, itinerary, accommodation, funding and Thai supporting evidence, before preparing for submission. Applicants also go through a biometric stage where applicable. We manage the application through to the decision and assist with further-document requests where appropriate.
Who decides whether my Schengen short-stay visa is approved?
The decision is made by the competent authority of the Schengen state handling the application. Lawyers for Expats Thailand prepares and manages the application but does not control or guarantee the outcome.
