How We Help
Australian family migration does not follow one single visa route. Lawyers for Expats Thailand helps Thai citizens and their families understand which family pathway appears appropriate, establish the evidence required and prepare the application around the genuine family relationship and individual circumstances.
How We Help
A family visa application is prepared around your actual family circumstances, not a template. Here is what happens from the first call through to the decision.
We start by understanding who is applying, the family relationship involved, where each family member lives and what the family is trying to achieve in Australia.
We assess the circumstances against the available Australian family migration pathways and identify the application route that appears appropriate before preparation begins.
We organise the relationship, identity, sponsorship and other supporting documentation relevant to the particular family application.
Where the family proceeds, we prepare and manage the application from submission through to the decision. The Australian Department of Home Affairs makes the visa decision, not Lawyers for Expats Thailand.
What We Do For Our Clients
Australian family visas cover a range of different relationships and circumstances. Here is the actual scope of what our team handles.
The first step is understanding the exact relationship between the Thai applicant and the Australian family member. Depending on circumstances this may concern a parent, a child, or another qualifying family relationship. Simply having family in Australia does not automatically create a visa entitlement.
Does having family in Australia automatically mean I qualify for a family visa?
No. Australian family migration contains different visa categories with their own requirements. We first establish the family relationship and circumstances before identifying which route, if any, appears appropriate.
Australian family migration includes different pathways rather than one universal "family visa." At a high level, Home Affairs groups family migration options including Parent visas, Child visas and Other Family visas. We assess the family's circumstances against these pathways rather than treating every application the same.
How do I know which Australian family visa I need?
That depends on the family relationship, the circumstances of the applicant and the Australian family member, and the requirements of the relevant migration pathway. We assess those circumstances before the application is prepared.
We help organise evidence relevant to the actual family relationship. Depending on the application this may involve birth documentation, family registration or civil documents, identity documents, evidence connecting family members, marriage or divorce documentation where relevant, custody or parental documents where relevant, and other evidence required by the particular route.
Some family migration pathways involve an Australian sponsor or other Australian-side requirements. Depending on the route, we help organise relevant evidence relating to identity, Australian citizenship, permanent residence or other qualifying status, the family relationship, residence and circumstances, sponsorship information where applicable, and supporting declarations or documents where applicable. Not every family visa carries the same sponsorship requirements.
Does my family member in Australia need to be involved?
In many family migration applications the circumstances and evidence of the Australian family member are important, and some routes involve formal sponsorship. The exact requirements depend on the particular family pathway.
Thai civil and identity documentation can form an important part of establishing family relationships. Relevant documents may include, depending on circumstances, birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce documents, name-change documents, household or civil records, identity documents, parental or custody documents, and other relevant evidence, with translations where applicable. Health and character requirements may also apply depending on the visa.
Our work includes identifying the family route, preparing the application, organising family evidence, applicant evidence, and sponsor or Australian-side evidence where applicable, checking names, dates and relationships, and organising Thai supporting documents, before preparing for submission. We manage the application through to the decision and assist with further-information requests where appropriate.
Who decides whether an Australian family visa is granted?
The Australian Department of Home Affairs makes the visa decision. Lawyers for Expats Thailand helps identify, prepare and manage the application but does not control or guarantee the outcome.
Our Commitment To You
We establish the genuine family circumstances before deciding which Australian migration pathway appears appropriate.
We do not treat "family visa" as one generic application. We establish the relevant route first and build the application around it.
We organise the Thai applicant's documents and the Australian family member's evidence so the relationship and circumstances are presented consistently.
Where you proceed with the service, we prepare and manage the application through submission and the decision.
