How We Help
Business travel to the United States needs an application that clearly explains why you are travelling, who you will meet and how the proposed visit relates to your work or business in Thailand. Lawyers for Expats Thailand helps Thai citizens prepare B-1 business visitor applications around the genuine commercial or professional purpose of the trip and the evidence supporting it.
How We Help
A B-1 business visitor application is prepared around your real business purpose, not a template. Here is what happens from the first call through to the decision.
We start by understanding why you need to travel to the United States, the people or organisations involved, what you intend to do during the visit and how long the trip is expected to last.
We organise the invitation, Thai employer or business evidence, financial documents, itinerary and other supporting information relevant to the proposed business visit.
We help prepare the application so the business purpose, Thai professional circumstances and travel arrangements are presented clearly and consistently.
We help organise the supporting evidence and prepare the applicant to understand the consular process and explain the genuine business purpose of the visit truthfully. The relevant US consular authority makes the visa decision, not Lawyers for Expats Thailand.
What We Do For Our Clients
A business visitor application touches the business purpose, evidence from both sides of the visit and the applicant's circumstances in Thailand together. Here is the actual scope of what our team handles.
The B-1 classification concerns temporary business visitor activity. Examples can include appropriate activities such as business meetings, consultations, negotiations, attending business conventions, attending professional conferences, meeting clients, meeting suppliers or commercial partners, and other legitimate temporary business visitor activity.
Is a B-1 Business Visitor visa the same as a US work visa?
No. A B-1 visitor classification is for permitted temporary business activities. It is not a substitute for a work visa or other authorisation required where the proposed activity amounts to employment or work in the United States.
Where a US organisation or business contact is involved, the application may benefit from clear evidence explaining who the applicant is meeting, the organisation involved, purpose of the meetings or visit, business relationship, dates, proposed activities, conference or event participation where relevant, and who is funding particular costs where relevant.
The Thai side of the business visit is important. Depending on the circumstances this may involve employment, job title, employer, business ownership, company activity, responsibilities in Thailand, business relationship with the US organisation, approved business travel, financial circumstances, and the reason the applicant is required to return to Thailand after the visit.
What if I own my own business in Thailand?
Business owners and self-employed applicants can present evidence appropriate to their own circumstances. We organise the company, financial and supporting documents so the applicant's business role and genuine reason for travelling are explained clearly.
The application should clearly establish who is paying for flights, accommodation, local travel, day-to-day costs, and business-related expenses where relevant. Funding might come from the applicant, a Thai employer, the applicant's Thai business, the US organisation, or another legitimate arrangement based on the circumstances.
Can the US company I am visiting pay for my trip?
A US organisation may cover legitimate travel, accommodation or other expenses depending on the circumstances of the visit. Where it does, we organise the evidence so the arrangement and its connection to the genuine business purpose are explained clearly.
The question is not simply whether the trip is 'for business' — the actual activities matter. The B-1 framework is intended for temporary business visitor activity rather than taking employment in the United States. If the intended activity goes beyond appropriate business visitor activity, another US visa category may need to be considered.
Can I work for a US company while visiting on a B-1 visa?
A B-1 visitor classification is not intended for taking ordinary employment in the United States. The actual activity needs to be assessed carefully, because a trip connected with business is not automatically the same as a permitted business visitor activity.
We help with application information, business purpose, invitation and business correspondence, Thai employment or business evidence, financial evidence, itinerary, accommodation, supporting documents, consistency of dates and purpose, preparation for the consular interview where required, and further-document requests where appropriate. We do not coach false answers.
Who decides whether my US Business Visitor visa is approved?
The relevant US consular authority makes the visa decision. Lawyers for Expats Thailand helps prepare the application and supporting evidence but does not control or guarantee the outcome.
Our Commitment To You
We prepare the application around what you genuinely need to do in the United States rather than simply labelling every commercial trip as a business visitor case.
We bring together the Thai employment or business evidence and the information from the US organisation so the purpose of the visit is presented consistently.
We make sure the application describes what you actually intend to do during the visit and does not blur temporary business visiting with employment.
We help organise the application and supporting documents and prepare you to understand the consular process while remaining clear that the US authorities make the decision.
