How We Help
When a Thai citizen is travelling to Europe to spend time with a partner, the application needs to explain both the proposed visit and the relationship behind it. Lawyers for Expats Thailand prepares and manages Schengen visa applications for Thai citizens visiting their partner, bringing the relationship, invitation, travel plans, accommodation, finances and supporting evidence together into one coherent application.
How We Help
A Schengen partner-visit application is prepared around your relationship and travel plans, not a template. Here is what happens from the first call through to the decision.
We start by understanding your relationship, where your partner lives, the purpose and length of the proposed visit, where you will stay and how the trip will be funded.
We identify and organise the relationship, invitation, financial, accommodation, travel and Thai supporting evidence relevant to the application.
We prepare the application and supporting documents so the relationship, reason for travel, itinerary and practical arrangements are explained consistently.
We manage the application from submission through to the decision, assisting with the process and further-document requests where appropriate. The competent Schengen authority makes the decision, not Lawyers for Expats Thailand.
What We Do For Our Clients
A partner-visit application brings together the relationship, the invitation and the practical arrangements for the trip. Here is the actual scope of what our team handles.
Visiting a partner is not simply a generic tourist application. We first establish who the applicant is visiting, where the partner lives, the nature and history of the relationship, the proposed travel dates, the length of the visit, accommodation, funding, and the applicant's circumstances in Thailand.
Do we have to be married for me to visit my partner in Europe?
Not necessarily. A short-stay visit to a partner is not limited only to married couples. The relevant evidence depends on the relationship, the proposed visit and the requirements applied by the Schengen state handling the application.
Where the relationship forms an important part of the purpose of travel, we help organise appropriate evidence explaining it. Depending on circumstances this may include evidence of contact between the couple, time spent together, previous visits, photographs, travel history, marriage or civil-status documents where relevant, and other genuine evidence showing the relationship.
How much relationship evidence do we need?
There is no single document package appropriate to every couple. The evidence should be sufficient to explain the genuine relationship and the circumstances of the proposed visit without simply submitting unnecessary material.
Private visits commonly involve evidence from the person being visited. Depending on the destination and circumstances this can involve invitation information, host identity, host address, accommodation, the duration and purpose of the stay, the relationship to the applicant, and destination-specific invitation or sponsorship forms where required — the precise mechanism varies by Schengen state, and we confirm what applies before preparing the application.
Either the Thai applicant, the partner, or a combination may be relevant to funding, depending on the circumstances and the applicable rules. We help organise the applicant's finances, partner or sponsor support where applicable, employment or business evidence, accommodation support, travel expenses, and evidence connecting the financial arrangements to the proposed visit.
Can my partner pay for my trip?
A partner may be able to provide financial or accommodation support, depending on the circumstances and the requirements of the Schengen state handling the application. Where support is being provided, we make sure the nature of that support and the supporting evidence are presented clearly.
A short-stay application should present the applicant's genuine circumstances in Thailand and their intention to comply with the permitted visit. Depending on the applicant this can include employment, business, family circumstances, finances, previous travel, ongoing responsibilities and other relevant ties and circumstances.
Our work includes preparing the application, organising relationship evidence, invitation and host documentation, financial evidence, accommodation and itinerary, and supporting Thai documents, before preparing for submission. Applicants also go through a biometric stage where applicable. We manage the application through to the decision and help with additional-document requests where appropriate.
Does having a European partner guarantee that my visa will be approved?
No. A relationship does not guarantee approval. The competent authority assesses the complete application and the individual circumstances. Our role is to prepare and present the application and supporting evidence as clearly and consistently as possible.
Our Commitment To You
We explain the relationship clearly and proportionately as part of the genuine reason for the proposed visit.
Where appropriate, we work with both the Thai applicant and the partner in Europe to organise the evidence required from each side.
We make sure the relationship, invitation, accommodation, finances and travel plans tell the same coherent story.
We manage the application from preparation and submission through to the decision and remain involved as the application progresses.
