How We Help
A Canadian study permit application needs to show more than an offer from a school. Lawyers for Expats Thailand helps Thai students organise the acceptance, financial, study-purpose and supporting evidence needed to present a clear application for genuine study at a designated learning institution in Canada.
How We Help
A study permit application is prepared around your real study plans, not a template. Here is what happens from the first call through to the decision.
We start by understanding what you intend to study, the institution, program, location, duration, previous education and how the proposed studies fit your academic or professional plans.
We review the letter of acceptance, designated learning institution details, PAL/TAL requirements where applicable and the other core documents needed before the application is prepared.
We organise the financial, academic, family and personal evidence needed to explain how the studies will be funded and why the proposed program makes sense for the applicant.
We prepare and organise the study permit application, biometrics and further-document stages where applicable and remain involved as the matter progresses. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada makes the study permit decision, not Lawyers for Expats Thailand.
What We Do For Our Clients
A study permit application touches the acceptance, the financial position and the study purpose together. Here is the actual scope of what our team handles.
Most foreign nationals studying in Canada need a study permit, and the applicant normally needs a letter of acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). We review the institution, DLI status, program, duration, study location, acceptance documentation and the applicant's academic background.
Does getting accepted by a Canadian school guarantee a study permit?
No. A letter of acceptance is an important part of the application, but IRCC separately assesses the study permit application and the applicant's overall circumstances. Admission to a school does not guarantee that a study permit will be issued.
A PAL or TAL is now required in most study permit cases, but exemptions exist. As of August 2026, most applicants need a PAL/TAL, the document confirms a place within the relevant provincial or territorial allocation, the DLI usually helps the student obtain it, and Quebec has its own provincial process, including the CAQ. Starting January 1, 2026, applicants entering a degree-granting master's or doctoral program at a public DLI do not need a PAL/TAL.
Does every student need a PAL or TAL?
No. Most study permit applicants need a provincial or territorial attestation letter, but IRCC provides exemptions for certain applicants. For example, from January 1, 2026, students entering degree-granting master's or doctoral programs at public DLIs are exempt. We check the applicant's program and circumstances before preparing the application.
The applicant must show sufficient financial support for tuition, living expenses, travel or return transportation, and accompanying family members where relevant. Possible evidence may involve personal savings, family support, scholarship funding, education loans, sponsor support, and other legitimate sources.
Can my parents or another person pay for my studies?
Yes. Financial support can come from another person where the arrangement is genuine and properly documented. We organise the evidence so the source of funds, relationship to the applicant and ability to support the studies are explained clearly.
The application should make sense as a genuine study plan. Depending on the case, we review previous education, employment or career background, choice of program, why the program was selected, why Canada was chosen, how the program relates to future plans, gaps or changes in education where relevant, and the applicant's circumstances in Thailand. The primary purpose of a study permit is genuine study, not employment, and any work rights attached to that status are secondary to it.
Do I need to explain why I chose this course in Canada?
Yes. The application should present a coherent and genuine study plan. We help organise the applicant's real academic, professional and personal reasons for choosing the program and explain how those plans fit the overall application.
Does a Canadian Study Permit automatically let me work in Canada?
Not automatically. Some eligible students can work under specific conditions attached to their study status, but the rules depend on the program, institution and individual circumstances. The primary purpose of the study permit is to study in Canada.
Depending on the application, relevant material may include passport or identity documents, education records, transcripts, employment records, financial documents, family support documents, civil documents, letter of acceptance, PAL/TAL or exemption evidence where applicable, biometrics where required, medical or police requirements where applicable, and other documents requested by IRCC. Translations may be required where applicable.
We help with acceptance-document review, DLI check, PAL/TAL check, financial evidence, study-purpose evidence, academic records, Thai supporting documents, application preparation, consistency checks, submission, biometrics where required, medical or further-document requirements where applicable, and support through decision.
Who decides whether my Canadian Study Permit is approved?
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada makes the study permit decision. Lawyers for Expats Thailand helps prepare and organise the application but does not control or guarantee the outcome.

We prepare the application around the program you genuinely intend to study and how it fits your real academic and professional circumstances.
We organise the acceptance, financial and supporting evidence so the application presents a coherent study plan.
