How We Help
What we do for our clients when you instruct Lawyers for Expats Thailand to handle your corporate bank account — document preparation, bank selection and the opening appointment, start to finish.

How We Help
Four steps, one point of contact throughout.
We review and prepare the full corporate document set in advance: company affidavit, MOA, Articles of Association, shareholder list, board resolution naming authorised signatories, VAT certificate and registered address confirmation. No surprises at the branch.
Not every branch has equal experience with foreign-owned companies. We direct clients to banks and branches with a track record of handling foreign-shareholder corporate account openings — not the nearest branch to wherever they are staying.
We accompany you to the opening appointment, introduce the company to the bank's relationship manager and handle the KYC conversation about business structure, source of capital and transaction volumes.
After the account is open, we advise on VAT registration requirements, social security obligations and the ongoing compliance steps that sit alongside a live corporate account — so nothing lapses in the first year of operation.
What if the bank rejects the application?
A rejection at one branch is not a rejection from the bank as a whole. In most cases, rejection comes from incomplete documentation or a branch not experienced with the company's structure. We diagnose the reason and advise on next steps — typically a different branch, a different bank, or supplementary documentation.
What We Do For Our Clients
"We handle your corporate banking" covers a lot of ground. Here is the actual scope of what our team does on your file.
Full review of the corporate document set before any appointment is booked. We check the company affidavit is current, draft the board resolution correctly naming the authorised signatories, and cross-check the registered address against the DBD filing. A single mismatch between the bank's records and the DBD's records is the most common reason an appointment is rescheduled.
How much of the process can be done remotely?
Document preparation can be done remotely. The account opening appointment itself normally requires the presence of at least one authorised director. We will tell you precisely which steps need you in person and prepare everything so the appointment is a single visit, not a series of follow-up trips.
We identify which bank and which branch is most appropriate for your company structure and the nature of your business. International businesses, online businesses and companies with foreign transaction volumes attract different relationship managers and KYC requirements.
Which bank do you recommend?
We recommend based on your specific company and business type. Bangkok Bank is generally strongest for international transactions; Kasikorn Bank for day-to-day operations and payroll. We do not give a blanket recommendation without understanding the company structure and what the account will primarily be used for.
We book the appointment, attend with you and handle the introduction of the company to the bank's relationship manager. The KYC conversation — about business structure, source of funds and anticipated transaction volumes — goes significantly more smoothly when a lawyer who knows the company's formation is present to answer it.
Do you accompany us to the bank?
Yes. We attend the account opening appointment with you, introduce the company to the relationship manager and handle the KYC conversation about business structure, source of capital and anticipated transaction volumes. You are not walking in and explaining a foreign-shareholder Thai company to a junior branch officer alone.
The board resolution naming authorised signatories is one of the documents most commonly missing or incorrectly drafted when clients try to open an account without assistance. We draft this correctly the first time, specifying signatories, signing thresholds and scope of authority in the form the bank expects.
Once the account is open, VAT registration becomes relevant above 1,800,000 THB annual revenue and social security contributions are required for Thai employees from the first hire. We advise on both and co-ordinate with your ongoing company compliance calendar.
When directors or shareholders change, the bank must be updated and new documents provided. Authorised signatories cannot be changed informally — the bank requires a fresh board resolution and updated company affidavit. We handle this as part of any corporate structure change.
What happens if our directors or shareholders change after the account is opened?
The bank must be notified and updated company documents provided, since authorised signatories are tied to the company's registered structure. We advise clients to update their corporate bank as part of any shareholder or director change and assist with the documentation required.
Our Commitment To You
The most common reason a corporate account opening appointment fails is incomplete or outdated paperwork — a company affidavit that has expired, a board resolution that does not name the right signatories, or a registered address that does not match the DBD filing. We review the complete document set in advance so the bank has no administrative grounds to reschedule.
We direct clients to branches with a proven record of handling foreign-owned company accounts. Certain branches in Bangkok and major business areas have relationship managers with specific experience in foreign-shareholder structures — others do not.
For companies registered through us, the banking step is folded into the same instruction. The document pack required to open the account is assembled during registration, not separately assembled again afterward — you are not starting the document process twice.
The same lawyer prepares the documents, attends the bank with you and advises on post-opening compliance. You are not passed to a different team for the banking step once company formation is complete.
Will the same person handle this from start to finish?
Yes. The same lawyer who reviews your documents prepares the board resolution, attends the bank with you and advises on post-opening compliance. You are not handed between departments.
