THAILAND VISA UPDATE — 60-DAY VISA EXEMPTION ENDS 15 SEPTEMBER 2026

It's official. The Ministry of Interior announcements were signed on 26 August 2026 and published in the Royal Gazette, with the new rules taking effect from the beginning of 15 September 2026.

WHAT CHANGES ON 15 SEPTEMBER:
✈️ The 60-day visa exemption (ผ.60) for 93 countries is REVOKED
🛬 Replaced by a 30-day visa exemption (ผ.30) for approximately 54 countries — including the US, UK, EU/Schengen, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, GCC states, Singapore and Malaysia
📅 15-day visa-free tier for Mauritius and Seychelles
🛂 Visa on Arrival narrowed to Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia
🚧 Two visa-exempt entries per calendar year at land-border checkpoints restored
WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU:
✅ Arrive BEFORE 15 September 2026 — you still receive the 60-day stamp
✅ Arrive ON OR AFTER 15 September 2026 — you receive the new 30-day (or 15-day) stamp
✅ The change is NOT retroactive — anyone already stamped in on 60 days keeps that stay to its stamped expiry
✅ The 30-day exemption can still be extended once by 30 days at Immigration (1,900 THB)
✅ If you plan to stay longer than 30 days, apply for a Tourist Visa at a Thai Embassy or Consulate BEFORE you travel
